Routine inspection (multi-day)·August 20, 2025

On August 20, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Case Management - Annual Continuation inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Director Jessica Derby and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection no children were present. LPA observed required postings to be located in a prominent are of the CCC's office LPA observed the last emergency drill was to be conducted on 8/6/2025. Activity schedules and snack menus were observed in each classroom. LPA in the company of the director toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. LPA notes the CCC uses 2 classrooms for the school age program. LPA observed the classrooms to have sufficient space and ventilation for children in care. LPA observed the classrooms to have age appropriate toys and equipment. LPA observed each classroom to have their own bathrooms and sinks which were found in working order. LPA observed the classrooms to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed both classrooms to have their own yards. LPA observed the yards to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the yards to have sufficient space and shading for children's activities. LPA observed the yards to have age appropriate equipment that is in good condition. LPA observed storage sheds to contain children's equipment. LPA notes there were no bodies of water on site. A samplings of children's files was conducted. LPAs observed all children's files to be current and complete. LPA reviewed files for the staff present which were found to be current and complete as well. LPA observed CONTINUED PAGE 2 at least one staff member had a current CPR/First Aid certificate. LPA observed the sign in/out to be completed digitally and that children present were signed in. LPA observed classrooms to have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Director informed LPA they are tested regularly. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed.
