On April 21, 2022 at 10:49 AM, Licensing Program Analyst Dean Thompson conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA conducted the Covid-19 screening questions prior to entering the facility. LPA met with licensee Anna Carter and advised the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA a tour of the home inside and out. There were eight children in care at the time of the inspection. LPA observed required licensing documents mounted on the wall inside the dining room. Fire and earthquake drills are being documented every six months. Last drill was conducted on 11/1/2021. Fire extinguisher 2A10BC mounted on the wall inside the kitchen was serviced 7/9/2021. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were observed. Children in care have access to living room, dining room, main play room, one restroom, and back yard. Fire place inside the dining room is screened to prevent access by children. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home. Back yard play area is enclosed with a wooden gate. Ammunition and fire arms are locked away in a safe inside the office. There are no bodies of water present at the time of inspection. During the tour, LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children in care. LPA reviewed four children files. All children files were current. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 8/31/2023. Licensee mandated reporter training certification was completed 2/17/2022. Licensee was invited to attend a webinar on Child Abuse Reporting Requirements. The webinar will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA observed a safe sleep log being documented for infants in care every 15 minutes. Licensee advised there were no children in care that required Incidental Medical Services. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Anna Carter
