What the inspector wrote

On May 23, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aaliyah Zendejas conducted a Case Management - Other visit to the above mentioned facility. LPA met with licensee Cristina Crowther and explained the nature of the inspection which was to continue monitoring the facility while the current investigation is still pending. LPA conducted a tour inside and outside of the home. No bodies of water were present. At the time of the visit there were 6 children present. Licensee was present with 1 additional adult. The adult in the home has been cleared. The home is 2 stories with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The licensee uses the playroom, one bathroom, and the backyard for childcare. The 4-bedrooms, 2- bathrooms, living room, dining room, and garage are off limits and are inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed age appropriate toys, teaching materials, and furnishings. Licensee has a secured fence in the backyard. LPA did not observe any toxins/hazardous items accessible to childre n. A regulation 2A10BC fire extinguisher wa s observed with a service date of 03/15/2024. Licensee is reminded to service or purchase the fire extinguisher yearly. Licensee states that there are no firearms and ammunition in the home. LPA observed the home to be kept clean and orderly. Detergents and cleaning compounds are stored in the locked garage keeping items out of reach of children. The bathroom to be used for children in care was observed to be clean. LPA observed a carbon monoxide and smoke alarm detector in the playroom.LPA saw all licensing documents to be posted and in the playroom area. LPA reviewed five out of six children files. All children files were current. LPA asked Licensee if they had the documentation of the safe sleep checks for the infants from the last few weeks and they said they did not. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 5/12/2025. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com Licensee's mandated reporter expires 4/9/2026. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA did not observe a safe sleep log being documented for infants in care every 15 minutes. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Con'd on 809-C During the exit interview,, licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. Today a repeat type B violation was cited under Title 22 Division 12. Appeal rights were given to the licensee. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Cristina Crowther.
