What the inspector wrote

On 09/26/25 at 09:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Diaz conducted an unannounced Required- 3 Year inspection. LPA met with licensee Dyana Montelongo and advised the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA a tour of the home inside and out. There were 5 children in care along with licensee and licensee's spouse who is fingerprint cleared and assist in the day-care, at the time of the inspection. Family Child Care Home (FCCH) operates Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Licensee stated they are closed every last Monday of the month. LPA observed required licensing documents pinned on the wall in the children's playroom inside the FCCH. Fire and earthquake drills are being documented every six months. Last drill was conducted on 09/02/25. Fire extinguisher 2A10BC was observed mounted on the wall in the children's playroom was last purchased on 05/14/25. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and working. Tested time was 09:30 AM. Children in care have access to the playroom, 1 restroom, kitchen, living room, dining room turned into a learning center, and back yard. In the kitchen the knives are being kept above the refrigerator to keep out of reach from children. Cleaning supplies are kept in a hallway closet with a lock also a safety gate restricting entrance to the hallway making inaccessible to children. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home. Back yard play area is enclosed and has plenty toy's, play structure age appropriate, and activities. During the tour, LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items or bodies of water accessible to children in care. Continued on 809-C LPA reviewed 5 children files. All children files were current. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 02/24/27. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com licensee's mandated reporter certification is valid until 02/29/26. LPA observed spouse required CPR/first aid and mandated reporter certification and also an assistant who is a relative to all be current. LPA documented the dates for the 2 assistance on an LIC859. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee advised there were no children in care that required Incidental Medical Services. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee Dyana Montelongo, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. During today's inspection no citations issued notice of site visit was issued. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with licensee Dyana Montelongo.
