What the inspector wrote

On June 5 th , 2025, at 01:10 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fernando Hernandez conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection and at the above Family Childcare Home (FCCH). The FCCH operating hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, provides care to children 6 months to 13 years old. During the inspection, LPA notes Licensee was not present at the time of inspection due to personal emergency however, LPA met with (2) assistants Maria Mendo and Perla Mejia. Along with the Assistant(s) we toured the inside and outside of the home. LPA observed 10 children in care under the supervision of (2) assistants. LPA notes the home is two-story home. The Accessible area in the home includes the, living room for children napping, (1) bathroom, kitchen, enclosed backyard, and (1) daycare room for daily activities. The garage, entire 2 nd floor, and front yard remains inaccessible to children. LPA notes a child safety gate is in place at the bottom of the stairs ensuring the 2 nd floor remains inaccessible to children during day care hours. The required licensing forms are posted in the prominent location. Filtered water is accessible to children in care by means of individual water cups. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and equipment, play pen, and cots inside the home. Knives and cleaning materials are both stored in elevated kitchen cabinet made inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the back yard to be completely fenced by a concrete wall. LPA notes the children\342\200\231s bathroom was observed to be free of toxins. Assistant(s) confirmed there are no firearms and ammunition in the home. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C PAGE 2 LPA reviewed the facility file and found that the Pediatric CPR and First Aid certificate expires on 04/17/2026. LPA reviewed Mandated Reporter Training Certificates which expires on 02/13/27. LPA reminded that it is their responsibility to renew the certificates every two years. The regulation fire extinguisher (2A10BC) was observed with a service date 01/07/2025. LPA reminded Licensee to purchase/service fire extinguisher annually. A Carbon monoxide and smoke detector was not tested at the time of inspection due to children being asleep, however LPA informed Assistants to record a video of testing both alarms and to send to LPA Hernandez email Fernando.Hernandez@dss.ca.gov. The FCCH conducts fire and disaster drill every six months and last drill was conducted on 05/13/2025. LPA reviewed children's records. LPA reviewed 5 out of 5 children\342\200\231s records which were found complete. LPA reviewed 2 out of 2 children\342\200\231s infant safe sleep documentation to be found complete for infants under the age of two years. LPA reviewed children\342\200\231s roster to be complete with all children present listed on the children\342\200\231s roster. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Licensee, was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. CONTINUED ON LIC809-C PAGE 3 LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. This facility does provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. For IMS information, see PIN 22-02-CCP. A Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During today\342\200\231s inspection no deficiencies were cited today. Notice of Site Visit was issued and must be posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the assistant(s), Maria Mendo & Perla Mejia.
