What the inspector wrote

On 9/09/25 at 1:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Diaz conducted an unannounced Required-3 Year inspection. LPA met with site administrator Katie Oberman and site director Giselle Perez and advised them of the purpose of the inspection. Site admin. provided LPA a tour of the classrooms and multipurpose room inside and outside. There were 65 children in care at the time of the inspection along with 3 teachers and 5 student aids. The center runs as a after-school program located on a Tk-5th grade elementary school site. The program operates Monday - Friday from 1:00PM - 6:00PM. LPA observed required licensing documents pinned on the wall in the classroom. Last disaster drill was conducted on 06/04/25. The program is utilizing 2 portable classrooms and the cafeteria also known as the multipurpose room each of the classrooms have age-appropriate toys, activities, and furniture accessible for children in care. LPA observed 1 classroom being occupied for elementary school classroom LPA advised site admin. that a waiver may be need to have Non-license class share licensed classroom. LPA observed restrooms available for children to use that is shared with elementary school and has been prior approval by licensing. LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children. First Aid kits were observed in each classroom. The program uses an App called Dacko Attendance for parents/guardian sign-in/sign-out. For any updates the center will email, text, call, or in-person communication. The center provides 1 afternoon snack. LPA observed the monthly snack menu posted. LPA observed 2 outdoor play areas that is shared with elementary school and approved prior by licensing. there is enough amount of space for children to play. LPA observed the playground has age-appropriate toys and structures available for children to use. Continued on 809-C A sampling of 5 children and 3 staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's and staff files to be complete and current. Staff mandated reporter certification are all current. LPA verified SB792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Site supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . LPA reviewed storage of \342\200\234medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP . A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the site administrator Katie Oberman. No deficiencies were cited.
