What the inspector wrote

On August 29, 2024 at 11:51 AM Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Aaliyah Zendejas and Shane Loftus conducted a Case Management - Other inspection due to the fact that during a visit, LPAs noticed two un fingerprinted adult in the facility taking care of children. LPAs took a tour of the facility with assistant director Saundra Ramirez. The director Shashini Talwatte come in about twenty minutes later. At the time of the inspection there was 16 children under the care and supervision of 5 adults. At the time of the inspection, LPAs observed 2 uncleared adult (A1, A2) caring for children. LPA informed director that those adults had been separated from the facility as of January 2024 and February 2024. Director informed licensing that they were unaware that those adults had been separated from the facility and director never filed for separation for those adults. LPA informed Director that it seemed like both adults were stopped during their association process due to them missing certain documents which then caused the fingerprint process to stop and have them disassociated and separated from the facility. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. One type A deficiency was cited today. See attached 809-D. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the facility representative. Appeal rights were provided.
