What the inspector wrote

On June 4, 2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection at the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with licensee Maria Barahona and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 3 children were present. LPA in the company of the licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPA notes the home primarily uses the living room, 1 bedroom bathroom and backyard for child care purposes. LPA observed the living room to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the kitchen to be accessible to children, however all lower kitchen cabinets/drawers were free of hazards. Licensee informed LPA they keep their knives in the garage. LPA observed the door to the garage to be locked. LPA observed the bedroom used for children to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the remaining bedrooms to be locked and inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the bathroom used for children to be clean and free of hazards as well. LPA observed the backyard to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the back yard to have plenty of space for children's activities. LPA observed the exit ways to be secured with latches that are beyond the reach of children in care. LPA reminded licensee they must ensure cleaning products are inaccessible to children when they are outside. CONTINUED PAGE 2 LPA observed the FCCH to have a smoke and a carbon monoxide detector which were tested at 2:46PM and found in working order. The FCCH to have a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 9/23/2024. LPA reminded licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA observed the last emergency drill to be conducted on 1/6/25. LPA reviewed children's records which were found to be complete. LPA observed licensee's Mandated Reporter Training to have expired 5/13/25 .1 Type B deficiency is being issued as a result on the attached LIC809D. Further, licensee's CPR/First Aid was completed on 6/7/2024. LPA reminded licensee that it is their responsibility to ensure all training and certifications are current. Licensee stated there are no fire arms in the home. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. CONTINUED PAGE 3 Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. 1 Type B deficiency was issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Maria Barahona. Appeal Rights were given.
