What the inspector wrote

On 6/11/25 at 1:20 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Diaz conducted an unannounced Required- 3 Year inspection. LPA met with licensee Kristin Clark and advised the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA a tour of the home inside and out. There were 13 children in care at the time of the inspection with licensees husband/assistant. Day care is open Mon.-Fri. 8-5. LPA observed required licensing documents pinned on the walls of the home. Fire and earthquake drills are being documented every six months. Last drill was conducted on 1/21/25. Fire extinguisher 2A10BC observed mounted on the wall in the children's playroom and was last serviced 3/6/25. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were observed but not tested due to children napping. Licensee stated they test alarms often to make sure they are working. Children in care have access to 3 rooms, 1 restroom, kitchen, living room, office room, children's playroom and back yard. Fireplace inside the living room has screen covered to prevent access by children. In the kitchen the knives are in a kitchen drawer with a child safety lock and cleaning agents are stored under the kitchen sink also with child safety locks making them inaccessible to children. Other cleaning agents and toxins or hazardous materials are stored in the garage inaccessible to children. LPA observed restroom used for child care to be clean and sanitary. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home. Back yard play area is enclosed with brick wall and bushes. LPA observed in ground pool in the back yard to be locked and surrounded by 5 feet tall metal poles, mesh panels, and an outward swing gate. LPA observed a pool alarm inside the pool, life ring with a minimum exterior diameter of 17 inches labeled as approved by the United States Coast Guard, and a rescue pole with a body hook and minimum fixed length of 12 feet. During the tour, LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children in care. Continued on 809-C LPA reviewed 12 children files. All children files were current. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 11/4/26 and assistant 1/12/27. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com mandated reporter training for licensee is valid until 1/12/27 and assistant is valid until 1/12/27. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA's also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA observed a safe sleep log being documented for infants in care every 15 minutes. Licensee advised there were no children in care that required Incidental Medical Services. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the Licensee Kristin Clark, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. During today's inspection no citations issued notice of site visit was issued and must be posted for 30 days. Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with licensee Kristin Clark
