What the inspector wrote

On July 20, 2022 at 11:35 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisco Pedroza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA met with Site Supervisor Kalee Pizarro and advised her the purpose of the inspection. Site Supervisor provided LPA a tour of the facility. There was no children in care at the time of the inspection. During Summer break the preschool closes and the facility conducts a summer school-age camp at the facility. Facility is located on a local school grounds. The facility uses one (1) classroom for children in care. LPA observed licensing required documents posted prominently on the wall at the entrance of the classroom. Facility has enough restrooms for children in care. Facility offers breakfast, lunch and snack. LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children in care. LPA observed age appropriate toys, activities, books, and furniture readily accessible for children to use. LPA observed enough restrooms for the children in care. The outdoor playground has an ample amount of space and shade for children to play. The facility has water available for children inside and out. A sampling of staff records were reviewed. LPA observed staff files to be complete and current. Teachers meet the required qualifications. Teachers present have current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid and Mandated Reporter certificates. Facility is currently following Covid-19 guidelines. No deficiencies were cited during today's inspection. Continued on 809-C Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a plan for providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Site Supervisor.
