What the inspector wrote

On July 14, 2023 at 12:30 PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Laura Villanueva made an unannounced visit to conduct a required-1Year inspection. The purpose of the visit was discussed with Director, David Picard. LPA toured the classrooms and outdoor activity spaces with Director. There were 34 children with 5 staff. The center operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00AM to 5:30PM. All cleaning or hazardous items are stored inaccessible to children. Toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and in sanitary conditions. Center provides AM snack and PM snack. Food menu is posted and all required forms are posted visibly for child's authorized representatives to view. Kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are kept clean. Food is properly labeled l and stored. Waste containers have tight-fitting covers. There is drinking water available for children inside and outside the classrooms. The playground equipment is in good condition. The areas around or under high climbing equipment have cushioned material. Sign in/out sheets were complete. All staff have a criminal record clearance. Staff records were reviewed and found complete. Children's files reviewed contain required forms and are complete. CPR and First Aid cards are current with an expiration date of 08/30/2024. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed and found current. Teachers present have current AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificates that expire on 7/25/2024. The center is currently providing Incidental Medical Services. http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm Incidental Medial Services (IMS). The center provides IMS but currently does not have any children with medication. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA also informed facility representatives of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with facility representatives and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010 to test their drinking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. Director was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other important information communication platform. Director was made aware that it is the facility's responsibility to know the current regulations for a CCC which can be accessed on-line at www.cdss.ca.gov To receive important licensed related information to licensed facilities, visit the CCLD Important Information website at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care-licensing/subscribe and select the Child Care option to receive email communication To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS GIVEN TO POST AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. No deficiencies cited today. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, David Picard.
