What the inspector wrote

On August 5, 2021 at 1:16 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Francisco Pedroza conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA contacted the facility and conducted Covid-19 screening questions prior to entering the facility. LPA met with facility Business Manager/Interim Director Vanessa Manzo and advised her the purpose of the inspection. There was 17 children in care at the time of the inspection. This center operates from 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday - Friday. This is a combined center with an preschool program. LPA observed required licensing documents posted on the wall in the lobby of the facility. The center uses three (3) classrooms for infants/toddlers. Currently they were only using two (2) classrooms at the time of the inspection. LPA observed three (3) teachers caring for the children in the infant classroom. Each classroom had age appropriate toys and furnishings. The classroom had a changing table with a sink readily accessible. LPA observed enough cribs for the infants in care. Facility provides mats for older children that are not using a crib. The facility logs the required 15 minute sleep check logs on clip board. Food and milk is stored within a refrigerator located in the classroom. LPA reviewed a sampling of Individual needs & services and feeding plans. Children bottles and food were properly labeled with child's name and date. The facility distinguishes bottles with formula with a white label and breast milk with a red label. LPA did not observe any toxins/hazardous items accessible to children. Continued on 809-C A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. LPA observed children's files to be current and complete. LPA observed staff files to be current and complete. LPA verified SB792 Child Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis requirements. Teachers/Aides meet the required qualifications. Teachers/Aides present have a current Pediatric CPR/First-Aid certificate that expire on 4/16/2023. Teachers/Aides present have current Mandated Reporter certificates that expire on 1/9/2022. LPA spoke with Director about new Covid-19 and Safe Sleep requirements. The facility is following current Covid-19 and Safe Sleep requirements. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
