What the inspector wrote

On September 28, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced inspection at the above-mentioned FCCH. LPA met with Licensee Adriana Aguilera De Marquez and informed them the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensse. toured the interior and exterior of the Family Child Care Home (FCCH). The FCCH uses the living room, dining area, 1 bathroom and backyard for child care purposes. At the time of the inspection there were 2 children in care. LPA observed age appropriate toys,furniture and equipment in the FCCH's interior. Licensee informed LPA that they keep their medication in an elevated cabinet in the kitchen, beyond the reach of children. Sharps are stored in an elevated cabinet as well, beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed cleaning compounds to be stored in the kitchen as well in an elevated cabinet beyond the reach of children in care. LPA observed the FCCH's fire place to be blocked off by a TV stand and TV. LPA observed required licensing forms and documents to be posted prominently in the entrance of the FCCH. LPA observed numerous smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the FCCH. A combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector was tested at 12:44PM and found to be operable. The FCCH has a regulation fire extinguisher (2A10BC) which was purchased 9/24/23.LPA reminded Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire annually. The backyard is enclosed by a walls and gates on the sides of the home. The backyard is entered through the living room. LPA observed backyard to be clean and free of hazards.The sides of the home are blocked off by gates that are secured. LPA observed no bodies of water on site. The FCCH has 2 dogs that have current vaccination records. CONTINUED PAGE 2 A sampling of children's records were reviewed. The records were found to be current, complete and possessed emergency contact information. LPA notes that the Licensee is not currently caring for infants, therefore safe sleep documentation was not reviewed. Staff records were reviewed and found to be current and complete . Licensee's records were reviewed as well. Licensee's Pediatric CPR/First Aid expires 7/1/2025 while their Mandated reporter expired 9/25/23. LPA reminded Licensee that it is their responsibility to maintain current certificates and training's. Licensee stated that there are no fire arms in the home. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Adriana Aguilera De Marquez
