What the inspector wrote

On August 19. 2025 12:30PM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Laura Carone made an unannounced visit to conduct a Case Management-Incident Inspection. LPA met with licensee, Arcelia Almanza and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA and Licensee toured the interior and exterior of the home. Licensee and assistant were caring for 6 children at the time of the inspection. On July 11, 2025, the Santa Barbara Regional Office received a telephone call from assistant (Licensee's daughter) regarding an incident that occurred about 11:32AM. Licensee and assistant(regularly) were caring for 8 children. Child was on a swing in a play structure in the backyard. Child twisted the chain supporting the swing. As the child was turning, he lost his balance and fell off the swing. The child fell back landing on his right arm. Licensee escorted child inside to sit in a chair. Licensee called child's mother while assistant applied ice to area. The ice was placed on the child's arm in 10 minute intervals with 5 minutes of no ice. The mother came to pick up child and took him to hospital. The mother texted licensee pictures of the x-ray showing the fracture. Licensee showed pictures to LPA. Child's arm was placed in a sling for 2 weeks and then in a cast. Child returned to child care the following day. Child began attending school today. Licensee and assistant's actions were appropriate for the incident. No deficiencies cited. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Arcelia Almanza. Visit was conducted in Spanish.
