What the inspector wrote

On April 23, 2025, at 09:16 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Fernando Hernandez conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection at the above Family Childcare Home (FCCH). LPA met with Licensee, Lorena Nunez. LPA discussed the purpose of the inspection. FCCH operating hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, provides care to children between 2 months to 5 years old. During the inspection, LPA and Licensee toured the inside and outside of the home. LPA observed (5) children in care under the supervision of licensee. LPA notes the home is a one-story home. The Accessible area in the home includes, backyard, dining area, (1) bathroom, kitchen, (1) bedroom, side-yard, and playroom/living room for napping and daily activities. LPA notes the (1) bedroom, garage and (1) bathroom remain inaccessible to children. The required licensing forms are posted in a prominent location. Filtered water is accessible to children in care by means of individual water cups. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and equipment, cots and play pens inside the home. Knives are kept elevated inaccessible to children while the cleaning materials are stored in the garage inaccessible to the children in care. LPA observed the back yard to be completely fenced by a wood fence. The bathroom for children\342\200\231s use was observed to be free of toxins. Licensee confirmed there are no firearms and ammunition in the home. During inspection CONT. PAGE 2 Licensee informed LPA that they would like to update the areas accessible in the home to include the (1) bedroom that is currently inaccessible to be used as a napping area for infants. LPA advised Licensee to send an updated facility sketch to our department. LPA observed the (1) bedroom that is inaccessible to be clean and free of any hazards. LPA reviewed the facility file and found that the Pediatric CPR and First Aid certificate expires on 08/27/2026 while the Mandated Reporter Training Certificate expires on 12/19/25. LPA reminded Licensee that it is their responsibility to renew the certificates every two years. The regulation fire extinguisher (2A10BC) was observed with a purchase date of 09/30/24. LPA reminded licensee that it is their responsibility to purchase or service fire extinguisher annually. A Carbon monoxide and smoke combination detector was tested and found functional at 09:30AM. The (FCCH) conducts a fire and disaster drill every six months and last drill was conducted on 03/28/2025. The children\342\200\231s files were reviewed and found complete. Reminder, all newly enrolled children to have complete files. Facilities current roster of children was reviewed by the LPA during inspection with all children present during the inspection noted in the roster. Licensee checks and documents napping infants every 15 minutes, the Individual Safe Sleep Plan is completed for infant aged 0-12 months. No bodies of water were observed. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Licensee, was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
