What the inspector wrote

On August 27, 2025 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required - 3 Year inspection at the above-mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with licensee Kimbery Larrivee and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 4 children were present and 1 assistant present. LPA in the company of the licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPA notes the home uses a play room, 1 bathroom, and backyard for child care purposes. LPA observed the play room to be clean and orderly. LPA observed the play room to have age appropriate children's equipment. LPA observed the bathroom used for child care purposes to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the closet and garage to be made inaccessible with child proof locks. LPA observed the kitchen to be accessible however, lower cabinets are free of hazards or secured. Licensee informed LPA they keep their medication and cleaning compounds in an inaccessible area of the home. LPA observed the backyard to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the backyard to have plenty of shade and space for children's activities. LPA observed the yard to have age appropriate toys and equipment that are in good condition. LPA observed the backyard to have a sandbox that is clean and free of hazards. LPA observed storage containers in the backyard as well that are secured. LPA observed cabinets in the yard to be free of hazards. LPA observed the FCCH to have a smoke and a carbon monoxide detector which were tested at 9:58AM and found in working order. The FCCH to has a regulation fire extinguisher which was serviced on 7/21/25. CONTINUED PAGE 2 LPA reminded licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA observed the home to have a hot tub. LPA observed the hot tub to have a cover that is secured. LPA reviewed children's records which were found to be complete. LPA observed the last Safe Sleep check entry to be 8/26/25. LPA reviewed assistant's file as well which was found to be current and complete. LPA observed licensee's Mandated Reporter Training to be completed on 12/31/23. Further, licensee's CPR/First Aid was completed on 6/14/2025. LPA reminded licensee that it is their responsibility to ensure training and certificates are current. Licensee stated there are no fire arms in the home. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. CONTINUED PAGE 3 Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02- CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
