Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 02/11/26 at 9:25 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Veronica Martinez (Diaz) conducted an unannounced Required- 3 Year inspection. LPA met with licensee Azaria Arriaga and advised the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA a tour of the accessible areas used for Family Child Care (FCC) inside and out. There were 5 children in care at the time of the inspection with an assistant. LPA observed required licensing documents pinned on the wall in the childcare room licensee stated parents have access to the room. Fire and earthquake drills are documented every six months. Last drill was conducted on 01/30/26. Fire extinguisher 2A10BC is mounted kitchen wall and was last serviced 11/04/25. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and working. Time of test 9:39 AM. Children in care have access to 1 room, 1 restroom, kitchen, living room, and front yard/patio area. In the kitchen the knives are kept in a drawer with a child safety lock and cleaning supplies are kept in a cabinet above counters and under the kitchen sink with child safety lock making them inaccessible to children. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home. Front yard/patio area is enclosed with a wooden fence and has plenty of toys, age appropriate play structures, and activities for children to use. During the tour, LPA did not observe any hazards/toxins items or bodies of water accessible to children in care. Continued on 809-C LPA reviewed 5 children files. All children files were current. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 07/25/27 and assistant is valid through 07/25/27. LPA reminded licensee the 15 minute safe sleep logs need to be kept in children's file and available for LPAs to review. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . Licensee mandated reporter certificate is valid until 7/22/27 and assistant mandated reporter certificate is valid until 07/23/27. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee [or facility of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
