What the inspector wrote

On May 28, 2026 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Giovani Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection at the above mentioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with licensee Karina Gutierrez and informed them the purpose of the inspection. At the time of the inspection 11 children and 1 assistant were present. LPA in the company of the licensee toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. LPA notes the FCCH uses the playroom/naproom, 1 bathroom and family room for child care purposes. LPA observed required postings to be located near the entrance of the FCCH. LPA observed the naproom/playroom to have sufficient napping equipment for children in care. LPA reminded licensee they must be able to visually observe sleeping children without moving the door. LPA observed the fire place to be blocked off and inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the family room to be clean and free of hazards. LPA observed the kitchen to be made inaccessible with child proof gates. LPA observed the bathroom used for child care to be clean and free of hazards. Licensee informed LPA they keep their cleaning compounds in the garage that is inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed the facility to have a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector which was tested at 2:21PM and found in working order. LPA observed the facility to have a fire extinguisher that satisfies regulations and was purchased 1/3/26. LPA reminded licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. CONTINUED LIC 809C LPA observed the outdoor area to be completely enclosed. LPA observed the outdoor area to have sufficient space for children's activities. LPA observed storage containers to contain children's equipment and to be free of hazards. No bodies of water were observed on site. LPA reviewed children's records which were found to be current and complete. LPA observed licensee conducting 15 minute Safe Sleep checks during the inspection. LPA observed licensee's and assistant's Mandated Reporter Training to be current. Further, licensee and assistant have a current CPR/First Aid certificate. LPA reminded licensee that it is their responsibility to ensure all training and certifications are current. The last emergency drill was conducted on 3/24/26. Licensee stated there are no fire arms in the home. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. CONTINUED LIC 809C Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02 CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, the licensee Karina Gutierrez, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies were issued during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee Karina Gutierrez. .
