What the inspector wrote

On 10/19/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Carla Polanco met with Licensee Maricruz Vera for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Licensee is a Spanish speaker. LPA conducted inspection with the Licensee in Spanish, and has translated this report in English. There were four children present at the start of inspection. Licensee's hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM-3:15 PM. Licensee's mother was present in the home during the inspection, adult is not listed in Licensee's roster. Licensee stated that her mother does not work or help with the daycare children and had just recently arrived to visit. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee stated that she would have her mother fingerprinted to avoid any issues. LPA provided the department's live-scan form to the Licensee. A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include the master bedroom, son's bedroom and the two full bathroom's in the home. LPA observed the required postings and a working phone. 2A10BC fire extinguisher meets regulations. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. LPA toured the kitchen area and verified knives were inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed playroom area with age appropriate toys for children. LPA observed a restroom and verified that hazardous and toxic items were inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. Outdoor play space is fenced. There are no bodies of water on the premises. Continues on LIC809-C...... Children's files were reviewed. Emergency information and required immunization records were on file. LPA observed a current roster and documentation that a fire drill is conducted at least once every six months. Licensee's immunization records are available in the facility file. Current EMSA pediatric CPR and First Aid certification was verified and expires 05/2025 . LPA was not able to verify Licensee's Child Care Provider Mandated Reporter certification. Licensee was reminded to take the training once every two years. Training is available at www.mandatedreporterca.com . Licensee does not carry liability insurance; Liability insurance waiver was observed in children\342\200\231s files. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. LPA discussed the requirement to check and log infant napping every 15 minutes for infants 24 months and under. LPA provided copies of LIC 9227 Individual Sleeping Plan for infants under 12 months. Licensee stated that she is not caring for infants at this time. Provider stated that she is not currently providing Incidental medical Services (IMS) to children in care. A separate 809D page was issued for the deficiency. An exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with Licensee Maricruz Vera. A notice of site visit was provided and posted by LPA and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
