What the inspector wrote

On June 14, 2023, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Jennie Tedlos and Lauren Scott conducted an unannounced 1 Year required inspection and met with Licensee, Maria Sanchez. LPAs observed 9 children supervised by Licensee, and her assistant. Criminal record clearances have been verified. Facility fees were reviewed and are current. Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. Licensee operation hours are Monday- Friday: 6:30 AM- 5:00 PM and does not provide overnight care. LPAs and Licensee toured the facility during the inspection. Off limit areas are the Fenced pool area, the 2 closets by the garage, master bedroom and side yard. At time of inspection, licensee requested to make master bedroom on limits. LPAs toured the room. Master bedroom is now on limits. Facility sketch was updated. The backyard is fenced. There is a pool at the home . Pool regulations were discussed during inspection . Pool is fenced with mesh fencing. There are no weapons in the home. LPAs conducted record reviews during the inspection. Five child files, and the licensee's file was reviewed. Licensee's mandated reporter training is expired. LPAs discussed mandated reporter training with the Licensee. Licensee understands Mandated Reporter Training is to be completed every two years. Mandated reporter training can be accessed at www.mandatedreporterca.com . CPR/First Aid certification was reviewed for Licensee. Certification expiration date is 3/25. LPAs discussed regulations for fire drill logs. LPAs observed that there were no hazardous items accessible to children. LPAs observed that cleaning materials were inaccessible. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector meet regulation. Toys appear to be safe. REPORT CONTINUED ON SUBSEQUENT PAGE, 809 C Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence of the licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. This facility does not provide Incidental Medical Services- IMS. LPAs reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. LPAs also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Licensee, Maria Sanchez. A notice of site visit was posted by LPAs and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. LPAs informed Licensee, Maria Sanchez that this report dated June 14, 2023 documents one Type A citation. Type A citations which shall be posted for 30 consecutive days as there is an immediate risks to the health, safety, or personal rights of children in care. Also, LPAs informed Licensee to provide a copy of this licensing report dated June 14, 2023 that documents any Type A citations to parents/ guardians of all children currently enrolled by the next business day or the next day the children are in care, and to any newly enrolled parents/guardians for 12 months from the date of this report. A signed Acknowledgement of Receipt of Licensing Report (LIC 9224), or other written statement, must be placed in the child's file for verification.
