What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Managers (LPMs) Bettina Engelman and Amanda Blesi, and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Erwin Tjhia met with Licensee, Julie Jenkins and Facility Administrator, Lauren Garcia, for the purpose of an Informal Office Meeting. LPM Engelman defined the difference between a Non-Compliance and an Informal Meeting. LPM advised Ms. Jenkins the purpose of todays meeting is to help provider gain compliance. Today's informal meeting was to discuss the Type A citation issued on 10/19/2023 for absence of supervision, when a child was able to leave the facility without staffs knowledge or supervision. The facility was previously cited on 11/04/2022 for lack of supervision when staff was not aware that a child had wandered into the facility’s kitchen. . The Licensee stated that they have taken the following steps to maintain compliance: 1. Physical plant: Installing child's proof lock on the child's classroom door 2. Physical plant: Adding bells to the all doors to alert staff when the door is opened 3. Class schedules was adjusted so there will always be teacher in the main room. LPA and LPM reviewed regulations on Supervision. LPM and LPA provided information regarding training videos on Supervision and the Technical Support Program (TSP), which is a non-enforcement arm of the Community Care Licensing Division offering onsite support to licensees and providers. LPA will follow-up with Licensee Jenkins for TSP services. LPA discussed using the Department website (ccld.ca.gov) for child care updates, legislatiorn, forms and regulation information. LPM suggested viewing information videos at www.ccld.childcarevideos.org . This report was reviewed by Licensee Jenkins and Administrator Lauren Garcia.
