What the inspector wrote

Application Specialist (AS) Alecia Sifuentes met with Director Beatrice Jordan for the purpose of a case management inspection. Licensee requests a room change. Licensee is not making any changes to the licensed capacity. The preschool program is located at John Clayton School. The program currently operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: There is one preschool classroom located in the preschool building #6. AS observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, chairs, and cubbies. AS measured the classroom. The total classroom space contains a total of 983 square feet, which will accommodate the current licensed capacity of 26 preschool children. There are two toilets, three sinks, and one sink located outside for the children. There is a separate private restroom for the staff. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: Director informed AS that the preschool program will be utilizing the same outdoor space. AS did not take measurements and obtained the current total square footage from previous report dated 10/19/2020. The outdoor activity space contains a total of 22,800 square feet, which will accommodate the current licensed capacity of 26 preschool children. Report continues on LIC809-C. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, Beatrice Jordan. Effective today, 8/4/2023, AS will approve the room change.
