What the inspector wrote

Application Specialist (AS) Alecia Sifuentes met with Regional Director, Cindy Bunton Director, Esther Briana Esquivel for the purpose of an announced case management inspection. Licensee requests a change of capacity to increase the preschool license to serve 110 children from 2 years to entry into kindergarten. The program operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: AS observed four preschool classrooms. Director stated that classroom four is shared with the school-age children. Director stated the preschool children will utilize classroom four from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the school-age children from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Director stated that the preschool children will only utilize classrooms one, two, and three when the school-age children are present all day. AS measured four classrooms. The total classroom space contains a total of 3,874 square feet, which will accommodate Licensee's request for 110 preschool children. There are 10 toilets and 11 sinks for the children, and a separate private restroom for the staff. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE: AS observed three outdoor activity spaces. Infants, toddler, and preschool children will be utilizing Yard 1. Preschool children will be utilizing Yard 2. Preschool and school-age children will be utilizing Yard 3. Director has requested Shared Outdoor Space Waivers for Yard 1 and Yard 3. AS measured three outdoor activity spaces. The outdoor play area contains a total of 17,597 square feet, which will accommodate Licensee's request for 110 preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). Report continues on LIC809-C. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, Briana Esquivel. The following items are required before a license will be issued: 1. Updated fire inspection request (STD850)
