On August 12, 2022 at 11:07am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Indira Loza met with Executive Director Magali Noth for an Unannounced Annual Inspection. There were no children in care during today's visit. The center was toured for a health and safety inspection. The facility operates from 7:30am – 6:00pm Monday through Friday. The preschool operates out of 6 classrooms, two classrooms are in the elementary school building and four classrooms are in the Preschool building. All sinks and toilets are observed to be clean and in proper working order. The facility has age appropriate materials in all classrooms that are observed to be clean and in good condition. Each classroom has a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher. The fire system is hard wired. The facility had a working carbon monoxide detector. The outdoor play area is clean with ample age appropriate materials for the children. The yard is fully fenced in and has plenty of shade for the children. LPA did not observe any harmful or unattended bodies of water in or around the facility. The isolation area is next to the kitchen in the former teacher's lounge. Per the Executive Director, there are no firearms in the facility. All proper postings are made visible. The children bring lunch from home but have the option to purchase a hot lunch and the school will be providing snacks. The fire/disaster drill log was complete with the last drill logged May 18, 2022. LPA reviewed 9 children's files. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) will be provided to children, Licensee is aware of the procedure for providing IMS. Director was reminded that EMSA approved Pediatric CPR & First Aid training must be completed every two (2) years. Personnel Roster must be properly maintained, and fire/disaster drill must be conducted every six (6) months and documented. Director was reminded that California Law requires all facilities to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care, to child's parents, and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone or fax. *******************************************Report Continues on 809-C**************************************************** LPA informed Director that all forms can be downloaded at www.ccld.ca.gov . Director was also informed that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com . This facility provides IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep web page at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Director is reminded to notify LPA when the remodeling has been completed. Playground shall not be used until a health and safety inspection is done. There were no deficiencies cited during today's inspection. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
