What the inspector wrote

On 4/21/21 at 10:55am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Briana Plumboy met with licensee Sofia Masood to deliver the finding of an Complaint filed against Sofia Masood’s childcare regarding the allegation of physical abuse. Present for today’s inspection was 12 children in care (2 infants, 6 preschool age children, and 4 school age children) and fingerprint clear and associated assistants Monowara Begum and Sharmin Kadri Based on interviews conducted, the accusation facility staff hit the children in care is unsubstantiated. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore, the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Appeal Rights were given and discussed. An exit interview was conducted.

This requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on interviews, the children in care feel the staff yell at them when they are being redirected which poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.

This requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on interviews, the preschool age children eat meals and snacks at times inside the garage which poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.

    OPERATION OF A FAMILY CHILD CARE HOME

    (a)The licensee shall be present in the home and shall ensure that children in care are supervised at all times. When circumstances require the licensee to be temporarily absent from the home, the licensee shall arrange for a substitute adult to care for and supervise the children during his/her absence. Temporary absences shall not exceed 20 percent of the hours that the facility is providing care per day. This requirement was not met as evidenced by:Based on several interviews, the licensee is not present in the facility at least 80% of the time, and her assistants are caring for the children in care the majority of the time which poses a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
