What the inspector wrote

A Case Management Inspection was conducted on this date 1/17/2023 by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji. LPA met with Director, Diana Gallegos. An application was submitted for a Capacity Increase from 60 preschool aged children to 72 preschool aged children. Facility had undergone remodeling due to water damage in 2020 and during the remodel, they opened up space within each classroom. Applicant requested LPA remeasure space to increase facility capacity. The program is currently utilizing 5 classrooms on campus (Rooms Redwoods, Maple, Sequoia, Mulberry and Sprouts [Toddler Option Room]). Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30AM - 6:30PM . Present today were 9 additional staff members and 46 napping preschool aged child. A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside. Measurements were taken and are as follows: INDOORS: 2567.26 square feet = 73 children OUTDOORS: 13967.26 square feet = 120 children There are a total of 8 sinks and 8 toilets available for children use. Facility utilizes three playgrounds (Front Yard, Toddler Yard and Backyard). Drinking water is available inside and outside by way of bottles brought from home. Facility provides AM/PM snacks with children bringing lunch from home. Menus are posted. Facility has a functioning carbon monoxide detector, smoke detector and fire extinguisher accessible throughout the facility. Facility utilizes an electronic sign in/out application which provides a unique identifier for each authorized representative. A paper copy is available should the application not work. An approved Fire Clearance was received on 12/21/2022 from Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department for 72 preschool aged children. All licensing required documents are posted. Per Director, all Opening and Closing staff have current Pediatric CPR/First Aid. This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. An updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department when any changes are made. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm. Mandated reporter and appeal rights, unusual incident reporting and fingerprint requirements were discussed today. Director is also being informed of the web address ( www.ccld.ca.gov ) for downloading child care forms, and the director is encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list. The director is also reminded that mandated reporter training is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com . Zero Tolerance policies were explained. The center was found to be clean, safe, sanitary and in good repair. There are no deficiencies cited during today's visit. A license with approval for 72 preschool aged children operating out of 5 classrooms (Redwoods, Sequoia, Maple, Mulberry) which includes the option to have up to 12 toddlers in the toddler option room (Sprouts) plus three yards (Front Yard, Backyard, and Toddler Yard) will be issued effective today, 1/17/2023. An exit interview was conducted with Director, Diana Gallegos.
