What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst Lisa Dyer conducted an announced pre-licensing inspection due to a location change . Entrance to the facility down the left side of the driveway. Present were the applicant and two infants. The home was toured and consists of 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, and kitchen. Applicant will be utilizing the living room, second bedroom and the bathroom for her day care area. Off limits area is the master bedroom and the kitchen. These areas will be inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors; gates and visual supervision. Isolation area for sick children will be in the bedroom. There are no toxins accessible today. There is central heating, with vents in the ceiling. There is a 3-A:40-B:C fully charged fire extinguisher, a working smoke detector (tested), carbon monoxide detector and a first aid kit. There are toys and play space available. Children will sleep on mats. Per applicant, there are no firearms, fireplace or bodies of water on the premises. She has a cell phone. Preventative Health training is scheduled for 5/8/21. CPR/first aid class expires 3/10/23. Lead Poisoning Prevention Class was completed 1/28/21. Documentation of Assembly Bill 1207/Mandated Child Abuse Reporting was discussed. Training can be accessed at: www.mandatedreporterca.com . (Child Care Provider Module). Applicants Mandated Reporter certificate expires February 19, 2022. Applicant has also passed inspection by the Oakland Fire Marshall on 3/1/21. The applicant is the owner of the property, and verification was viewed. Backyard is securely fenced. There does not appear to be any dangerous hazards in the backyard such as poisons or toxins. Applicant has a toy airplane, riding and climbing toys, a toy kitchen, and other items for play in the backyard. There are no pets. Licensing forms were briefly discussed as licensee declined a full review. Applicant was instructed to conduct and document periodic fire and disaster drills. Individual Medical Services and discipline methods were discussed. Applicant was instructed that spanking is not allowed. Proposed hours of operation: 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. The handout, "A Child Care Provider's Guide to Safe Sleep" was provided and discussed. (continued) Applicant was informed that baby bouncers, johnny jumpers, and saucer chairs were not allowed in the home; and that all persons 18 years of age or older who frequently visit, work or reside in the home shall be fingerprint cleared prior to being in the presence of day care children. Also discussed: children in parked vehicles; substitutes; changes to the facility; fingerprinting/association; advertisements; on-limit areas, and smoking. Applicant was reminded that licensing updates and forms can be located on our website: www.ccld.ca.gov . For CCL Updates, go to www.ccld.ca.gov . Click the "Receive Important Updates" box. Enter your e-mail address for the Child Care Advocate Program. It is recommended that a license be issued to this Family Day Care Home pending receipt of all final clearances and the completion of all requirements. A license will be processed as soon as administratively possible. Exit interview conducted. Applicant was given appeal rights.
