What the inspector wrote

LPA Mendez interviewed Center Director Diana Becerra on 5/2/23 and stated that they only have a small number of children who wear pull ups and most children are potty trained. She stated staff are constantly checking children who wear diapers or pull ups and they have a small number of children that wear them. LPA Mendez asked what happens to old diaper logs after a year and she stated that when the children are no longer in the program the diaper logs are discarded. LPA Mendez asked if staff are speaking to children inappropriately or in a rude tone and she stated no and sometimes staff do raise their voice when children are running when they can\342\200\231t grab their attention and staff will also remind children to use walking feet if they run in the classroom. LPA Mendez interviewed staff (S1-S3) on 2/8/23. LPA Mendez asked staff if they are logging diaper changes in which 3 of 3 staff stated yes. LPA Mendez asked staff how many children are using diapers or pull ups in which 3 of 3 staff stated between 3 or 4 children use diapers or pull ups. LPA Mendez asked staff how often they are changing children\342\200\231s diapers in which 3 of 3 staff stated that they are checking every hour. LPA Mendez asked if they had spoken to children inappropriately or witness other staff talking to children inappropriately in which 3 of 3 staff state no. S1 stated that staff talk to children and will redirect them by talking to them when they are not listening. S2 stated that staff will redirect children if they can\342\200\231t hear them then they will raise voice when they are playing outside. LPA Mendez interviewed 11 parents (P1-P11) on 2/3/23, 4/20/23, 4/21/23 and 5/1/23. LPA Mendez asked parents (P1-P11) if their child wears diapers or pull ups in which 1 of 11 parents stated yes. LPA Mendez asked parents if they had picked up their child in a soiled diaper in which 1 of 11 parents stated yes their child was sent home in wet diaper. LPA Mendez asked parents if they had witnessed staff speak inappropriately or rudely to their child or any other children in care in which 10 of 11 parents stated no. LPA Mendez asked parents if they had concerns over the care of their child and 10 of 11 parents stated no. During today\342\200\231s visit facility was toured. LPA observed 16 children playing outside and 3 staff. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted. The Notice of Site Visit must be posted for 30 days.
