What the inspector wrote

A prelicensing inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), J. Snow. LPA met with facility representative thamalka mudannayake. Applicant is requesting to be licensed for 128 children as follows; 12 infants, age 0-24 months in room #3, 65 Preschool, age 2-5 years l room #1 & 2, 51 School Age 5-12 years in room #4 & 5. (Capacity may be adjusted due to share footage). Hours of operation will be 7am-530pm Monday -Friday. The indoor and outdoor activity spaces were toured, and the facility sketch was verified. The following areas will be off limits to children: the preschool kitchen. These areas have been made inaccessible by means of gate. There is a stove in the (kitchen) to store/prepare meals. They plan to move kitchens to the school age building and are aware to contact the LPA prior to making a change. There is a infant nap room with 4 cots and 8 cribs. The preschool and school age nap in their rooms on nap mats. The isolation area for sick children will be located in the back building lounge. The changing table is located next to the adult bathroom and in the infant kitchen counter. The outdoor play area, 2 preschool yards 1 infant yard and 1 school age yard & all are fully fenced. There is a play structure with slide for children to play on and adequate bark cushioning underneath. The poisons are locked in the garage. There is safe and age appropriate furniture, toys, and play equipment available for children. A capacity worksheet was completed during the visit however the applicant did not have the kitchen set up for infant care which is what they want to use it as. A return visit will be required. The following items need to be completed prior to the granting the license: 1. A visit to verify infant area once the additional room is ready for care. 2. Updated fire clearance 3. Waiver approved for school age yard. Letter request to include the following: Regulation : Outdoor Activity Space (If you do not have the minimum square footage) 101438.2(a) which states that “There shall be at least 75 square feet per child of outdoor activity space based on the total licensed capacity”. WHY: explain why you need the waiver/why you can not meet the regulation. How : you intend to meet the intent of the regulation. INCLUDE , together in one email: the letter request following above guidelines, a copy of the outside activity schedule , leave at least 15 minutes between age groups for transition time. And a yard map . Criminal Record Clearance - Child Care Centers: thamalka mudannayake was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. APPLICANT WILL WAIT UNTIL FACILITY OPENS TO DETERMINE IMS NEEDS: Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Safe Sleep (for infant centers)– Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Homes: LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with thamalka mudannayake and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at: https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep , as an additional resource. LPA also informed [applicant, licensee, or facility representative] of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at: https://www.cpsc.gov/ , and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. MyChildCarePlan.org--Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Home: thamalka mudannayake was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org site, a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Notice of Site Visit for licensed facilities only - Child Care Centers and Family Child Care Homes: A notice of site visit was given to thamalka mudannayake and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
