What the inspector wrote

On May 13, 2025 at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Deborah Khashe met with facility representative Jennifer McWhirt for the purpose of an Unannounced Annual Inspection. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to11:30 AM. The facility operates on the Calaveras Unified School District calendar. This school closes June 6, 2025 and resumes July 30, 2025. There were 9 children present and 2 teaching staff during this inspection. Drinking water is provided and many children bring in their own water bottles for drinking. LPA verified licensing fees are current. LPA toured the facility inside and out. LPA observed that all hazardous materials were inaccessible to children. LPA discussed sign in and out procedures, staffing ratios, first aid supplies, furniture, equipment, fire drills and drinking water. LPA observed all required forms to be posted. LPA observed functioning carbon monoxide and smoke alarms. There are adequate toys and equipment available for children. Outdoor play area was toured, the play structure appeared to be in good repair, and there is sufficient cushioning (cushioned turf) under the play structure. Facility provides breakfast to children in care. Food is made at the district kitchen and brought into the facility. All staff present during today's inspection have a fingerprint clearance. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Report continues on LIC809C LPA reviewed children\342\200\231s and staff files. LPA observed health screening reports with TB test and required MMR and TDAP vaccines. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid. LPA observed AB1207 Mandated Reporter training certificates for all staff. The site supervisor was reminded to renew the course every 2 years through www.mandatedreporterca.com website. Assembly Vill(AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licesed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January1,2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the wriiten directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1CCP. This provider is not currently providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS) services to children in care. IMS policy was reviewed and discussed at the time of inspection. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
