What the inspector wrote

On August 30, 2024 at 9:20am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Indira Loza met with Center Director Wanda Betts to continue the investigation for the complaint allegation listed above. Present during today's visit were 36 preschoolers and 5 fingerprint cleared staff. LPA toured the center for a health and safety check. During the course of the investigation LPA conducted staff and parent and made observations. During the initial visit for this complaint, LPA observed fecal matter on the side of a toilet in the "Two's" class and two garbage can lids that do not close completely; one of the garbage bins is next to the changing table and the second one is inside the bathroom in the Two's class. Interviews stated that there are ants in the facility and during today's visit LPA observed ants in the laundry room. These are conditions that are contributors to spreading communicable illnesses. The preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore this allegation is SUBSTANTIATED, California Code of Regulations 101223(a)(2) is being cited. See LIC9099-D for Type B citation. Exit Interview conducted. Appeal Rights and a copy of the report is provided. Notice of Site Visit must remain posted for 30 days.

This requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on interviews and observations, it has been determined that the facility had ants in the laundry room, had two garbage bins with lids that did not close completely, and there was fecal matter on the side of the toilet, which pose a potential risk to the Health, Safety, and Personal Rights of children in care.
