Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 7/14/2021, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA's) Ruby Ocegueda and Kari McWilliams conducted an unannounced case management inspection. Before entering the facility, LPA's conducted a Covid-19 screening and met with licensee Veronica Puga. A tour and census was taken. Upon inspection of the playground area, LPA's observed a large puddle of water (approximately 10 ft by 10 ft) that was collecting in the middle of the concrete area. The puddle resulted from water play earlier in the day. The deepest part of the puddle measured approximately 1.5 inches deep when measured with a wooden ruler. Photos were taken. LPA's discussed this observation with licensee and she stated that she usually has the building owner contact the City of Hanford to help unclog the drain that the water drains into. If the City of Hanford takes too long to respond, licensee and her husband will use a sump pump to remove the water so the rain water does not sit there in the Winter months. Licensee also stated that the staff use large brooms to push the water into other areas as to not let the puddles sit. LPA reviewed the regulations regarding open bodies of water and reminded her to continue to monitor the play yard for any collection of water. Licensee understands that water should not collect in any area so as to not create a risk to the health and safety of children in care. Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, no deficiency was cited during today's inspection. An exit interview was conducted with licensee Veronica Puga and Notice of Site visit was provided (LIC 9213). Notice of Site Visit should be posted for 30 days.
