What the inspector wrote

On 9/8/2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lillian Casillas conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with Karen Booth, Administrator, who guided LPA on a tour of the facility. Day and hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 8:45am to 2:30pm, and Monday through Friday, 8:45am to 12:40pm. The facility has 4 classrooms: RM 1: Sunflower Room (4 1/2 - 5 year olds), RM 2: Lavender Room (4 - 4 1/2 year olds), RM 3: Rosemary Room (3 - 3 1/2 year olds) and RM 4: Cherry Blossom (2 \302\275 - 3 year olds). The facility follows a Reggio-Emilia inspired program. LPA observed 41 children in care and 15 teachers present during this inspection. LPA verified that all adults present in the facility have obtained criminal record clearances and are associated to the facility. LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheet to verify the census. The following ratios were observed: RM 1: 11 preschool children with 4 teachers RM 2: 9 preschool children with 4 teachers RM 3: 9 preschool children with 4 teachers RM 4: 10 preschool children with 3 teachers A walkthrough of the classrooms was conducted, and classrooms were found to be clean and free from any potential hazards. Furniture was found to be in good repair and age appropriate. There is adequate heating, lighting and ventilation. Drinking water is readily available in each classroom. LPA observed water pitchers in every classroom. LPA observed classroom space to include dramatic play, arts/crafts, reading, individual cubbies for storage and learning activities. The director's office is the designated Isolation area. [CONTINUE ON PAGE 2] PAGE 2 LPA observed 2 children's bathrooms. Bathroom 1 includes 2 urinals, 1 toilet, and 2 sinks. Bathroom 2 includes 3 toilets and 2 sinks. There are sufficient toilets and sinks to accommodate the facility\342\200\231s capacity. Bathrooms were found to be clean. Food is prepared and catered by Caf\303\251 Pan Americana. The facility serves morning and afternoon snacks. Food preparation area is located in the hallway and was inspected for safety, cleanliness and proper equipment. Menus are posted and allergy lists are posted in each classroom. The facility is nut-free and seed-free. The outdoor play area is large and equipped with age-appropriate play equipment that is in safe condition. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in safe condition and is free of hazards. The 2A10:BC fire extinguishers are located on either end of the hallway. LPA observed smoke/carbon monoxide detectors throughout the facility. Facility was observed to be operating within the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. LPA observed staff records to contain appropriate documentation of education credits. All staff are trained in CPR and Pediatric First Aid (expiration date 8/16/2023). LPA reviewed a sample of 10 children\342\200\231s files and observed files were complete. Administrator was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Upon notification from the Department, the licensee will comply and act immediately to terminate the employment of, remove from the facility or bar from entering the facility for any person it is deemed necessary while the Department considers granting or denying an exemption. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) are not currently being provided . Director is aware that an IMS plan is [CONTINUE ON PAGE 3] PAGE 3 required to be submitted to the licensing office if they provide any of these services.
