What the inspector wrote

Parents stated that they have never observed 1 staff supervising more than 12 children the times they have been present. Children stated that they are never left alone and there is always a teacher present to help them. LPA reviewed children/staff sign in out sheets and found no concerns regarding children being out of ratio or lack of supervision. Pertaining to the allegation that -Facility staff is not qualified to care for children with special needs Staff stated that they do their best to work with children with special needs and provide parents with information on how to obtain additional services so they can all work together. Staff further stated that it can be a process for parents to obtain additional services and parents need to be open to obtaining services as well. LPA reviewed the parent handbook and observed a Special Needs Service (eligible Services) that goes into detail as to how to provide additional support to children who may need additional services. Pertaining to the allegation that - Facility takes in sick children without having proper medication to care for sick children. Staff stated that the Illness policy is followed and children are not to remain at home for 24 hours if they experience symptoms outlined in the parent handbook. Staff has no concerns regarding the policy being followed. LPA observed the Illness policy stated in the parent handbook. Pertaining to the allegation that -Facility keeps records of children from other facilities and falsifies time sheets of children that have not attended the facility in years Staff stated that the facility is in no way falsifying documentation for any child in care. LPA observed children's time sheets to match the children present the 3 days LPA conducted inspections. Pertaining to the allegation that - Administrators yell at staff in front of children Staff stated that they have never observed staff yell at one another while children are present. Staff stated that everyone is treated with respect even at challenging times. Children stated that they have never seen teachers yell at another teacher. Children's further stated that they like they are happy and that all of their teachers area really nice. Parents stated that during the times they have been present, they have never observed teachers yelling at one another. Pertaining to the allegation that - Staff lie on behalf of the center during investigations. Staff stated that there is no need to lie, they are being honest about the situation, even sharing details that can look bad. LPA will be obtaining declarations from staff stating that during the investigations, they are being honest and not providing the department with false information. Pertaining to the allegation that - Children are not provided what is on their menu and instead are given pop tarts. Staff stated that the there is a daily menu that the children follow. Children are fed very well and they are very happy. There are some who may not like the food but they do have other options such as fruit/vegetables. Staff also stated that the families are aware of the monthly meals because there are monthly copies available. Children stated that they like the food they eat at the day care. Children were able to name meals they eat such as roast beef, brocoli, potatoes, chicken nuggets, carrots, apples, and much more. Parents stated that they have no concerns regarding their children being fed accordingly. Parents further stated that their children let them know what they have eaten and they have a menu available to view that keeps them at ease. While conducting an inspection LPA walked in during lunch time and observed children sitting at the tables eating a protein, vegetables, a side of fruit. Based on the evidence as documented above, the allegations have been determined to be Unsubstantiated. A finding that the complaint is unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the allegation occurred. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Facility Representative, Magali Zuniga.
