What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Seung Lee conducted an unannounced required inspection. Upon arrival LPA Lee met with Director Megha Sahni who provided a tour of the facility. This preschool program which consists of 5 classrooms is open Monday-Friday 7AM-6PM. Due to the lack of staff available on this day, only 4 classrooms were being used on this day. LPA observed Staff#1 with 12 children, Staff#2 and #3 with 18 children, Staff#4 with 12 children, and Staff#5 with 11 children. LPA Lee inspected the preschool classrooms and observed age appropriate equipment, toys, and furniture. Telephone service, heating, lighting and ventilation were evaluated. Children have their own cubby to store their belongings. Napping equipment in form of cots were observed. Linens are taken home each week to be washed. There is drinking water available in form of water jug and personal bottles. Children's restrooms were observed to be clean with adequate supplies. The outdoor space was inspected for age appropriate equipment, cushioning, and to be hazard free. Drinking water is available outdoors via personal bottles. The kitchen was inspected by LPA. Trash can with tight fitting lid was observed. Two snacks are provided by the facility, while the children bring sacked lunches from home. All preparation areas were observed to be clean and in order. There is sufficient storage and cabinet space for supplies. A facility menu was observed to be posted on the refrigerator, in the classrooms, and in the posting area of the hallway. The facility serves AM snack and PM snack. During the inspection the Director did confirm that this facility has completed the required lead testing for water. Per Director, the isolation area is located in the Directors office and a staff restroom is available for ill children. All types of medication is stored in an off limits area of the classrooms. This facility accepts both prescription and over the counter medication as long as proper documents and instructions are provided by the parents of children in care. Staff and children's records were reviewed. The facility maintains their children's roster. Sign in and out sheets were reviewed. Sign in and out area is located inside near the front entrance hallway. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. The notice of site inspection must remain posted for a period of 30 days during hours of operation.
