Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On 11/17/21 a required annual inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), N. Cunningham. The home was toured inside and outside. The licensee was supervising three infants and three toddlers, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. The facility’s operating hours are 7:30am-5:30pm, Monday–Friday, year around. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The off-limits areas of the home are the master bedroom and bathroom, two bedrooms, and kitchen which were made inaccessible. Children play in the fully fenced front yard. The licensee stated that there are no bodies of water and none were observed during today's inspection. In the summer, the licensee plans on setting up an above ground pool in the back yard. LPA inspected the fencing and determined that it's in compliance when a body of water is present. Six children's records were reviewed at 1:15pm. Licensee’s record was reviewed. Licensee had a pediatric first aid/CPR certificate on file that expires 09/2023 and a mandated reporter training that expires 11/2021. There are two adult living in the home. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. . Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417.
