Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

On August 16, 2022 at 1:22 PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Nasha King and Sumayya Habeebulla conducted a Case Management visit to inspect and measure Classroom E9-1 (Caterpillars) for a capacity increase determination. The Licensee is requesting to add an additional Toddler Option Classroom (E9-1) to their preschool license. The proposed increase is from a capacity of 108 children to a capacity of 132 children. A fire clearance was granted by the City of Rancho Mirage Fire Department on June 1, 2022. On August 09, 2022, LPAs King and Habeebulla conducted an annual inspection as part of a compliance review and no immediate safety hazards, or concerns were observed; no deficiencies were cited during the inspection. A tour of the inside and outside of the facility was granted today and the following was observed and/or noted: Indoor Activity Areas/Toddler Option/Classroom E9-1 (Caterpillars) 31.04 X 19.15 = 594.42 594.42 divided by 35 = 16.9 =17 LPAs have determined that there is sufficient space to accommodate 17 children in classroom E9-1 (Caterpillars). However, a total of only 24 toddlers is permitted according to the Fire Safety Inspection Report dated June 1, 2022. Classroom E9-3 (Crickets) has already been approved as a toddler classroom and should only be housed for a total of 12 toddlers. Toddler/Bathroom Fixtures 2 toilets x 15 = 30 children 2 sinks x 15 = 30 children Limiting factor for toddler capacity in classroom E9-1 is 12, as the fire department has limited the total capacity of toddlers to 24, and there are already 12 toddlers in classroom E9-3 (Crickets). There are no deficiencies being cited at this time. An exit interview was conducted, and this report was reviewed with the Director, Jennifer Traub . Appeal rights were discussed and provided during the exit interview. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
