Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Continued from LIC 9099 (Page 2) During a previous visit, LPA did not observe staff grab day care children in a rough manner. Interviews conducted disclosed staff use redirection when handling challenging behaviors. It was disclosed parents are notified of any incidents pertaining to challenging behaviors via telephone and through an incident report. Information obtained indicated staff meet with parents to develop a plan and work collaboratively to manage ongoing challenging behaviors. It was revealed staff have used physical redirection, such as hugging or taking a child’s hand or arm to stop children from hurting others. It is determined there was not sufficient information evident to support the allegation that staff grabbed a child in a rough manner. Based on observations made at the facility and information obtained during interviews, it is determined that the allegation could not be substantiated or dismissed. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur; therefore, the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED. An exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with the assistant director, Daniela Nava. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
