What the inspector wrote

On July 15, 2024, at 08:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Courtnee Peebles arrived at the facility to conduct a Case Management inspection due to the licensee applying for increase in capacity to a large family childcare home. Upon arrival, LPA met with Jennifer Rushing, who stated there were no day-care children present. The home is two story home with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, with attached garage. Fire Clearance was approved by Riverside County Fire Dept. Cal fire of Menifee on 5/15/2023. At 08:45 PM, LPA toured the facility, inside and out with Mrs. Rushing and the following was observed and/or discussed: Licensee operates preschool children that abides by the school districts schedule. Licensee did not have any children in care at the time of inspection. · Per Applicant, off-limit areas include: Entire second floor, Garage . Off-limit areas have, ma gates and barriers making them inaccessible to children. · Normal hours of operation will be: Monday through Friday 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM · Smoke detectors and Carbon Monoxide detectors were tested by the applicant during this inspection and were in working order. · There is central heating and air conditioning. · The fire extinguisher is a, fully charged and met standards established by the State Fire Marshal. · No guns or weapons are stored in the facility as of this date. Applicant understands all guns, weapons and ammunition must be key locked separately and made inaccessible per Title 22 Regulations. · Stairs are barricaded · The fireplace is properly screened · Clean, safe and age appropriate toys were observed · The outside activity area consists of: pool, bikes, clubhouse · There Is a pool that is properly barricded. Applicant understands all bodies of water including ponds, above ground pools and spas, in-ground pools and spas, and some fountains must be properly covered or fenced per title 22 regulations. The Department must be notified before and after installation of the bodies of water described. In addition, all wading pools or similar product must be emptied immediately after use and stored in an upright position when not in use. · Two story home · Facility Sketch, Emergency Disaster Plan and Notification of Parent’s Rights poster are posted · Documentation of fire and disaster drills on file – Last drill conducted on 03/21/2024 · No bodies of water at this time. · Verification of control of property on file · Children’s records are complete · Employee’s records are complete · Mandated Reporter Training expired on 01/18/2025 · Pediatric CPR and First Aid Card expire on 11/24/2024 · Health & Safety Certificate - completed · Resident and/or staff records were reviewed and all adults who require caregiver background checks have received all required clearances and/or exemptions. The licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and/or using the facility address for their mailing address. No deficiencies observed during time of inspection Once all corrections have been made, with proof sent to licensing, the application for a Large Family Child Care Home will be submitted for approval with a maximum capacity of 12, or 14 with parent notification. Exit interview conducted and this report along with the appeal rights were reviewed and provided to licensee Jennifer Rushing.
