Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Kelly Ferrara and Alize Tillery met with Facility Representative Kiana Komentani to conduct an unannounced case management inspection to increase the capacity of the preschool. There are currently 68 children in care with 12 staff. The facility's hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM. The facility has requested to increase their capacity from 72 preschool children to 120. The preschool also has 36 children under a toddler option. The two additional classrooms to be used are located in building 791 Levy Road which is across the parking lot from the main facility. There are a sufficient amount of sinks and toilets for the preschool children to use in the new building. A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. During today's inspection, LPAs observed the facility is now using Room #4 which had not been measured during the Pre-Licensing inspection. LPAs measured classroom #4 and the classrooms in the new building. The total space in both buildings is 6663.9377 square feet which will accommodate the request for a total of 156 children. Building 791 can only accommodate a maximum of 44 preschool children. Individual measurements are recorded on the Capacity Worksheet (LIC 9024). LPA Ferrara received a fire clearance from the Folsom Fire Department on 5/24/22. LPAs observed a sufficient amount of furniture, toys, cubbies, cots, and play equipment in the classrooms. LPAs observed a functional carbon monoxide and smoke detector. LPAs observed disinfectants and medications are inaccessible and appropriately stored. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the office and will use the staff restroom, if necessary. LPAs observed the outdoor play area which is located behind the main building. The outdoor space was previously measured during the pre-licensing inspection on December 13th, 2019 and contains a total of 13787.73 square feet , which will accommodate the requested increase in capacity. The area is fenced and equipped with a sufficient amount of play equipment and toys and material to absorb a fall. The children bring their own water bottles outside. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Facility Representative was encouraged to visit the Department’s website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for child care updates, PINs, current forms, legislation, and regulation information. An exit interview was conducted and in the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were observed at the time of the inspection. Notice of Site visit was provided and LPAs advised it must remain posted for 30 days. LPAs have approved the increase in capacity as of today's date, June 3rd, 2022.
