Inspector’s narrative

What the inspector wrote

Pertinent parties stated during an incident where a child was displaying challenging behaviors, a staff member told a child to “to go to the corner and cry like you always do” and staff admitted to making that statement to the child and their voice was elevated due to a lot of children being in the classroom. Staff stated they did not mean to speak to the child inappropriately and did speak to the child’s authorized representative about the incident. Pertinent parties confirmed what the staff stated during the incident. Pertinent parties stated what was stated by the staff member to the child was embarrassing. Based on interviews conducted, the preponderance of evidence standard has been met, therefore the above allegation is found to be substantiated. See the attached LIC 9099D for deficiency cited. LPA informed director, that Type A citation must be reported to all authorized representatives/guardians of all children currently enrolled by the next business day, or the next day children are in care, and all newly enrolled children for the next 12 months from the date of citation. The signed Acknowledgement of Receipt LIC 9224, must be placed in child’s file for verification. An exit interview was conducted with Pauline Copas. During the exit interview, appeal rights were discussed/provided, Notice of Site form and LIC 9224 Acknowledgment of Receipt, and a copy of this report was provided. Notice of Site visit must be posted for 30 days.
