What the inspector wrote

On 6/21/21 at 1:30 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director Fran Forman for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were 114 children present with 25 teachers in 15 class rooms as follows: Room 1: 2 teachers w/9 children; Room 2: 2 teachers w/5 children; Room #3: 1 teacher w/3 children; Room #4: Toddler Option: 2 teachers w/4 children; Room #5: 2 teachers w/11 children; Room #6: 2 teachers w/8 children; Room #7: 2 teachers w/9 children; Room #8: 1 teacher w/8 children; Room #9: 2 teachers w/5 children; Room #10: 1 teacher w/5 children; ; Room #11: 2 teachers w/14 children; Room #12: 2 teachers w/5 children; Room #13: 1 teacher w/9 children; Room #14: 2 teachers w/12 children and Room #15: 2 teachers w/7 children. The facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the preschool program officially operating from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. LPA toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. Children bring all their own food. Extra snacks are on hand for emergencies. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept in a safe place, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play areas are fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. The toddler option playground is separate. Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition No hazards were noted. Portable water is used. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets (electronic), a sample of personnel records for a health screening and on-the-job training. A sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. Children are evaluated upon entry and monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. The isolation are for ill children awaiting pick up is the STEM lab. There are several staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. SB 792 (staff immunizations) Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records.     On or before March 30, 2018, a person who, on January 1, 2018, is a licensed child care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter training provided... and shall complete renewal mandated reporter training every two years...this requirement was not met as evidenced by: Based on LPAs file review, with the exception of the Director, none of the staff had current Mandated Reporter training on file. Most had expired in 2019 or 2020. This is a potential hazard to children in care.
