What the inspector wrote

On 6/9/2021 @ 10:50AM, LPA Nancy Diaz conducted an unannounced inspection. Licensee has submitted an application to increase capacity to a large family child care home. Fire Marshall clearance was received on 4/28/2021 from El Cajon Fire Department. Fire Marshall has granted capacity up to 14 children. Observed present today were 3 children. Licensee's 16-year old daughter helped translate in "Pashto" today. Mr. Habibullah Kohistani arrived a few minutes into this inspection. He stated that he owns his business and is home only 50% of the time. He will submit an updated application (LIC 279) to remove his name from the license. Mrs. Kohistani's 2 adult daughters (Lima and Arzo Kohistani) are her helpers. LPA reminded Mrs. Kohistani that at least one person who is CPR and First Aid certified be present at all times at the facility or off-site. A tour of the home was conducted. Areas accessible to children are: living room, family room, dining, kitchen, downstair bathroom and back fenced yard. Off limit areas are: 2nd floor and garage. The yard is fully fenced (5 ft. wooden fencing). Facility maintains a smoke & carbon monoxide detectors. Both were tested today and were observed to be functioning. There is a fire extinguisher present in the home that meets regulation standards. (2A10BC). Mr. Kohistani submitted an updated LIC279 today removing his name from the license. A notice of site visit was issued today. This shall be posted for 30 days. An exit interview was conducted with Mrs. Kohistani. A copy of this report was provided to her with her appeal rights. A large family daycare home may provide care for more than 12 children and up to 14 children (with a helper) with one child enrolled and attending kindergarten or elementary school and another child that is at least 6 years of age. No more than 3 infants are cared for during any time when more than 12 children are present.
