What the inspector wrote

On 10/26/2021 at 2:45pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao, conducted an announced Pre-Licensing inspection. LPA met with Applicant, Anab Hade, School Age Director, Sharifa Osman, Rahmo Abdi (Somali translator from Somali Youth United that is assisting applicant with her pending application). The School-Age Program will operate Monday through Friday from 2pm-11pm in the school age classroom. First Aid kit is kept in a backpack that is hang up high on the wall by the side door. Facility has an operating carbon monoxide detector. Isolation area is the Director's office. Fire clearance was granted on 08/02/2021. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the school age children was inspected. The classroom was measured today. Indoor: \302\267 School Age Room measures 668.58 square feet and can accommodate up to 19 children. Outdoor: \302\267 The school age program will be using the preschool play yard by scheduling as the preschool program ends at 2pm. The preschool play yard was previously measured to be 1551.34 square feet, which is more than sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 15 children. Licensee submitted an outdoor waiver request for the children to use the licensed outdoor preschool area and will be review. The outdoor playground is located 147.6 feet away from the entrance of the school age center. Facility has age-appropriate play equipment that are stored in the storage area and there is a shade structure located at the outdoor area. Children will have access to water outdoors and indoor by bringing their own water bottles from home. Facility will also have extra water bottles for the children that may forget their bottles. There is a restroom with 1 toilet and 1 sink available for children. There are two separate staff's restrooms with a total of 2 toilets and 2 sinks available for ill children located near the office. There is a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator and microwave available and cabinets to store snacks. Cleaning supplies and other toxics are inaccessible to children. Drinking water is readily accessible in the school age room. This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual \342\200\223 Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Child Care Providers can now sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINS through the DSS website at https://cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care-licensing/subscribe . LPA discussed California Megan's Law with provider and advised her to go on the website at www.meganslaw.ca.gov . Licensee and Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. The facility shall have sufficient Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and understand that current County requirements state that all staff regardless of vaccination, are to wear masks while indoors. Reporting requirements for positive Covid-19 results in children or staff were discussed to include contact with County Department of Public Health for guidance (619)692-8499 and Licensing (619)767-2248 within 24 hours to report the unusual incident. Prior to licensure, the following is needed: purchase a first aid kit with all the required items listed per regulation 101226(d) close out the fence gap at the playground to ensure children's safety hooks stall be installed for the children to hang up their backpacks in the classroom Please submit the above corrections to Analyst within 7 days by submitting pictures for the above items. Exit interview was conducted. Once all documents are received and a final file review is conducted, a license for 15 children will be granted. The licensee was provided a copy of their appeal rights (LIC 9058 12/15) and their signature on this form acknowledges receipt of these rights.
