What the inspector wrote

On 10/2/2025, at approximately 11:50AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jonathan Tse conducted an unannounced annual visit at the facility. LPA met with Licensee, Brandy Bishop, and explained the purpose of the visit. Present during the visit was Licensee, one assistant, four preschool-age children, and two infants. The facility is in compliance with staffing and ratio requirements on this day. Daycare Areas: Living Room, Quiet Room, Bathroom, and Backyard. Off-limits Areas: Kitchen and the Bedroom and Bathroom on the second floor. LPA and Licensee inspected the home for any health or safety hazards. There is a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher present. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector present in the Kitchen. Emergency exits and clearly marked and visible. Stairs are kept inaccessible with a childproof gate. Off-limits areas and rooms are secured with childproof gates or latches. Outlets are covered or blocked with furniture when not in use. Poisons, cleaning detergents, and other chemicals are stored inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed there to be age-appropriate toys and learning materials present. Furniture is age-appropriate and free of rough or sharp edges. There are mats available for children to nap on. Per Licensee, mats are cleaned daily. LPA advised that sheets be used for mats. LPA observed that there were two foldable foam chair/mattresses intended for use by children in the Quiet Room. LPA advised that Licensee follow all manufacturer\342\200\231s instructions to ensure that children use age-appropriate equipment. Licensee stated that they understood. Continued on Page Two Page Two The facility provides lunch and AM/PM snacks. There are currently no children enrolled with food allergies or medications. LPA discussed storage and documentation of medication with Licensee. Water bottles are provided from home and refilled at the facility. The Backyard is currently not in use. Per Licensee, children are taken on walks to nearby parks and playgrounds for outdoor play. There are no swimming pools or other similar bodies of water in the facility. Per Licensee, there are no firearms or weapons stored in the facility. LPA reviewed 2 staff files, 9 children\342\200\231s files, and facility records. Licensee\342\200\231s Pediatric First Aid/CPR training is current and expires 6/2026. Mandated Reporter training is current for all staff and kept accessible for review. All children\342\200\231s files are complete. Individual Infant Sleeping Plans (LIC9227) and infant sleep logs are maintained and available for review. LPA advised that old records may be stored digitally, so long as they are available for review upon request. Licensee stated that they understood. All required postings were observed to be posted and accessible for review immediately upon entry to the facility. The last emergency drill was conducted on 7/16/2025. Drills are properly logged and documented. A facility roster is maintained and was observed to be complete. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Continued on Page Three Page Three LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. During the exit interview, Licensee, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. No deficiencies were cited during today\342\200\231s visit on 10/2/2025. See LIC9102-TA for technical assistance provided today regarding use of equipment. Appeal rights were provided and explained. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the licensee, Brandy Bishop.
