What the inspector wrote

On October 19 th , 2023, at 11:04AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rosie Breault conducted an announced Case Management Inspection for an increase of capacity. LPA met with Program Director Lori Chamberlain and discussed the purpose of the inspection. Preschool program operates Monday \342\200\223 Friday 7:30AM-4:30PM. Currently the facility is licensed for one (1) classroom (designated classroom #1) with capacity of twenty-five (25) children, and an outdoor play area. The licensee applied on September 19 th , 2023, to add one (1) additional classroom (designated classroom #2) for a total requested capacity of forty-nine children (49). LPA observed classrooms to contain age-appropriate toys and equipment, sufficient toilets, sinks, and water. Carbon monoxide was tested at 11:14AM and functioning at the time of the inspection, fire extinguisher was last serviced on 8/17/2023. The outdoor play area consists of two gated yards with age-appropriate toys, equipment, sand, wood chips, grass, availability to water and shaded space. No bodies of water are present. Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. CONTINUED ON LIC809C LPA discussed the Safe Sleep regulations with director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California. Paso Robles Fire Department conducted an inspection on 10/11/2023 and cleared facility for capacity of forty-nine (49) between both classrooms. Total indoor square footage available for care and supervision between both classroom is 1,877.08 sq. ft. and total outdoor square footage is 6,898.25 sq. ft., permitting increase of maximum capacity to forty-nine (49) children age range two (2) years to Kindergarten. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the director Lori Chamberlain. Notice of Site Visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Increase pending manager approval.
