What the inspector wrote

On 8/26//21, at 9:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Christy Short, Director of the CCC. LPA in the company of the Director toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC is on the grounds of the Community Presbyterian Church of Cambria and operates from 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday. The CCC uses three classrooms for child care. Currently two classrooms are being used and the bulk of child care activities are occurring in the CCC's outdoor area given the pandemic. LPA observed twelve children on site during the inspection along with 2 teachers (cleared and associated). LPA observed the CCC to be clean and organized. Additionally, LPA observed age appropriate toys and furnishings in the classroom for children in care. LPA observed a carbon monoxide detector on site which was tested at 10:15 AM and found to be operable. LPA observed the bathroom used by children in care to be in safe and sanitary operating condition. An operable refrigerator is on site and the CCC also has access to an operable refrigerator in the adjacent church..The parents of children in care provide lunches while the CCC provides snacks once a day. CCC staff ensure lunches from home contain items from the essential food groups. LPA notes the CCC's menu is posted near the entry of the CCC. Children also have the ability to access water inside and outside of the classroom. LPA observed disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medications and sharps stored on elevated shelves in classroom cabinets which are beyond the reach of children in care. LPA notes medication is secure in a lock box. LPA also observed cleaning supplies atop of a classroom cabinet which inaccessible to children in care and beyond their reach. The CCC outdoor play area has wood bark footing and is enclosed by wood fencing. The play yard fence's entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age appropriate toys and play equipment in the play area. LPA observed the toys and play equipment in the play area to be in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The Director is reminded to remove toys and play equipment from the play area when the aforementioned degrades and becomes inappropriate for use. LPA observed a shed in the play area which (CONT. 809-C) is secured. The shed contains CCC equipment and toys. The play structures in the area have adequate cushioning to absorb falls in the form of wood bark. The outdoor area has shade created by shade covers, trees and building overhangs. LPA observed licensing required notices and documents posted predominately on the wall in preschool classroom. LPA reviewed sign in/sign out documents upon arrive. All forms reviewed are found to be completed appropriately. A sampling of staff and children's records are reviewed. The children\342\200\231s records are complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as immunizations. Staff records are reviewed and contained current pediatric First Aid/CPR certifications as well as certifications for Mandated Reporter. Director informed LPA no firearm or ammunition is stored on the premises. This facility does not provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Director is reminded that it is Director responsibility to know the regulations for a CCC which can be accessed on-line at www.ccld.ca.gov . In areas evaluated, there were no deficiencies cited at this time. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT WAS POSTED AS REQUIRED BY H&S CODE SEC. 1596.817. THE NOTICE OF SITE VISIT MUST REMAIN POSTED FOR 30 DAYS OR A CIVIL PENALTY OF $100.00 WILL APPLY
