What the inspector wrote

On 3/13/23, at 12:01 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted a One Year Required Inspection of the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Carol Stoner, Interim Principal of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Interim Principal toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. LPA observed 36 children in care along with 7 teachers (associated and cleared). The CCC has nine classrooms and two indoor activity areas. Each classroom contained children of mutii preschool ages. LPA observed age appropriate furnishings, games and activities for children in care. Each classroom has an attached restroom which was observed to be clean and in sanitary operating condition. Likewise, each classroom has an operable carbon monoxide detector. The carbon monoxide detectors were not tested as they are integrated with the CCC's fire alarm system. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions in each classroom were locked in a elevated cabinets which are inaccessible to children. The CCC's medications is secured in the Nurse's office of the CCC. The Nurse's office is detached from the classrooms of the CCC. The Nurse's office also serves as an isolation area for the CCC. Sharps are stored in an elevated locations which are beyond the reach of children. The CCC provides snacks and lunches to children in care. Parents have the option to also provide lunches from home. Drinking water is available both inside via drinking faucets and and outside via faucets and individual water bottles. The CCC is constructed after January of 2010 thus the CCC is exempt from testing mandated for lead containments. The CCC has multiple outdoor activity areas. The areas are located behind each classroom and in the center of the CCC. The activity areas to the rear of the classroom are enclosed by chain link fencing and have varied (CONT. LIC 809-C, Page 2) footing. There is shade in the areas as well as cushioning to absorb fall. All play equipment is in good repair and age appropriate equipment is observed in the area. LPA observed no bodies of water at the CCC. A sampling of staff and children records were reviewed. The children\342\200\231s records are complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as immunization records, amongst other things. Staff records are reviewed and contained current pedantic CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter certifications (EMSA approved), amongst other things. Interim Principal noted no firearm or ammunition is stored on site. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A Notice of Site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Facility Representative Carol Stoner.
