What the inspector wrote

On 01/06/2025, at 11:55 AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Gigi conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection of the above Family Child Care Home (FCCH) and met with Licensee Martha Vargas and Assistant Lidia Lopez. LPA explained the purpose of the inspection. The FCCH operates Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM and provides care for children ages 0 to 12 years. LPA, accompanied by the Licensee, toured the home. LPA observed seven (7) children in care: six children were napping, and one child was playing in the outdoor play area. Two of the children are the Licensee\342\200\231s own school-age children. The accessible areas for children include the living room, kitchen, dining area, one bathroom, and the completely fenced backyard. LPA observed age-appropriate toys, play equipment, and games. The backyard surface consists of artificial turf and Bermuda grass, and no tripping hazards were noted. During the inspection, three children were picked up, leaving three children remaining in the home. Required licensing forms were observed posted near the entryway. The Licensee confirmed there are no firearms or ammunition in the home. The fire extinguisher was serviced on 05/19/2025. Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors were observed in the home Children\342\200\231s files were reviewed and found complete. Facility file was reviewed. Licensee and assistant have current Pediatric and Adult First Aid and CPR certificate which is valid until 3/16/2027 and 5/23/2026 respectively. Mandated Reporter training expires on 6/20/2026. Children\342\200\231s rosters are current. FCCH conducts fire and disaster drills every 3 months, and the last drill was conducted on 10/10/2025 To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey may be sent to the email address provided. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in the Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee, the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee is not providing Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. During today\342\200\231s inspection no deficiency was cited During the exit interview, the Licensee, Martha Vargas confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPA completed the RSO profile in FAS. A notice of site visit was given to Licensee and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days. Appeal Rights were given and explained. A n exit interview was conducted, and the report was reviewed with Licensee Martha Vargas. The \342\200\234Translate\342\200\235 application platform was utilized to provide Spanish translation during the discussion.
