What the inspector wrote

On March 20, 2025, at 12:18 PM Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Elizabeth George and Bill Billones conducted an unannounced Required 3 - Year inspection at the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPAs met with Site Supervisor, Alyssa Fisher, and discussed the purpose of the inspection. At the time of arrival no children were present, during inspection 12 children arrived for the start of the pm session. Five staff which were present are all cleared and associated with the CCC. The preschool operates out of one classroom and runs two sessions: 8am-11:30am and 1pm-4:30pm, Tuesday \342\200\223 Friday. LPAs in the company of the Site supervisor toured the interior and exterior of the facility. The CCC consists of one classroom and outdoor play area. LPAs observed required licensing forms to be posted on the wall in the classroom. LPAs observed the classroom to be clean and orderly. Age-appropriate toys and equipment are in good condition. Site supervisor informed LPAs cleaning compounds are stored in the kitchen area inaccessible to children. LPAs observed cabinets and drawers that are not secured to be free of hazards. There are sufficient toilets for children which LPAs observed to be clean and free of hazards. LPAs observed smoke detector and fire alarm which site supervisor stated they checked regularly to ensure they are functioning. Carbon Monoxide detector was tested and found to be operable at 1:20 PM. LPAs observed a regulation fire extinguisher last serviced on 03/27/24. All children enrolled had their own cubby labeled with their names. LPAs observed trash cans with tight fitting lids. LPAs observed the outdoor play area to be surrounded by a wrought iron fence with sufficient space for children\342\200\231s activities. Drinking water is made available to children via filtered water inside classroom and water jug outside. LPAs observed age-appropriate equipment and play structure in good repair. LPAs note the play structure's fall zones have sufficient cushioning. A sampling of children's files was reviewed. LPAs observed all children's files to be current and complete. LPAs reviewed files for the staff present which were found to be current and complete as well. LPAs reminded Site Supervisor it is their responsibility to ensure staff files are complete and current. Continued on 809-c, Page 2 LPAs note all staff have current Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certificates. LPAs observed fire drills are being conducted and logged with the last fire drill 2/19/25 for both am and pm sessions. LPAs observed the sign in and out sheets to filled out appropriately for the children that are present. LPAs did not observe any bodies of water on site. There are no fire arms or ammunition on CCC site. CCC provides breakfast and lunch to the am session and lunch and a snack to the pm session. LPAs observed kitchen area to be clean and free of any defects. The refrigerator contains food items consumed by the CCC's children which are labeled and dated. Site Supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. LPAs verified that the lead testing was completed on 2/14/24 in accordance to the Written Directives o utlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP . This facility provides Incidental Medical Services \342\200\223 IMS. LPAs reviewed storage of \342\200\234medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children\342\200\231s, personnel, and administrative records. Site Supervisor was reminded to keep all medications current and return expired medications to parents to be replaced. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. No deficiencies were given during today\342\200\231s visit. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted, appeals rights were provided and report was reviewed with the Site Supervisor, Alyssa Fisher.
